Ordering printed clothing for an event starts with a clear quantity, a realistic deadline and artwork that is ready for production. If you found this guide while looking for no-minimum printing, please note that Thread Traders now has minimum quantities for decorated garments: 15 per design for retail DTF printing and embroidery, and 50 per design for screen printing.
Choose the right printing route
DTF printing is an option for detailed, full-colour logos and illustrations. Screen printing can suit larger runs of bold artwork. Share the design, garment type, quantity and intended print size so our team can recommend an appropriate method. You can compare both on our Melbourne DTF and screen printing page.
If you have suitable garments and a heat press and want to apply the prints yourself, ready-to-press transfers are ordered separately through our DTF transfer store. Check that store’s current size, artwork, quantity and delivery requirements. Decorated-garment minimums do not establish the minimum for transfer-only orders.
Understand the garment minimums
- Retail DTF printing: 15 garments per design.
- Retail embroidery: 15 garments per design.
- Retail screen printing: 50 garments per design.
- Trade print and embroidery: 25 units; trade screen printing: 50 units.
Each design and decoration method must meet its own minimum. Sizes and garment styles can be mixed when the same design and method meet the required quantity. We do not accept one-off or below-minimum decorated-garment orders, including at an additional price. Read the current ordering FAQs before planning your run.
Prepare one complete order list
List the garment style, colour, size and quantity for each item. Check the supplier’s size guide rather than relying on what people usually wear: fit varies between brands and styles. Include spare garments only where there is a practical reason, such as additional staff or future use.
For artwork, provide a production-ready vector file such as AI, EPS, PDF or SVG where available, plus the intended print size and location. If you only have another file format, send it for assessment. Artwork preparation may incur an additional charge.
Work backwards from the event date
Standard orders usually take 7–10 business days after your deposit, required information and production-ready approved artwork are received. This is a typical production timeframe, not a guaranteed delivery date. Stock availability, the job requirements and freight can affect the schedule. Tell us your event date when you enquire so we can confirm whether it is achievable before you commit.
Check your proof carefully before approval. Confirm spelling, logos, garment colours, print dimensions and placement. Make any corrections before production starts.
Keep the whole event consistent
Staff clothing can be coordinated with promotional merchandise and banners and signage. Share the full project early, particularly when different items have different production requirements.
Send your artwork, quantities, size breakdown, deadline and delivery postcode through our quote form. Collection is available from our Cranbourne West workshop once your order is ready, and we arrange Australia-wide delivery.
